Michigan Chess Magazine

I am pleased to announce Nate Solon has accepted the position of Michigan Chess editor. Nate has about 15 years tournament experience, dating back to his earliest days in Ann Arbor. A former Michigan junior champion, Nate achieved master status at the 2000 World Open, where he scored a sensational 6 points in the Open section. While Nate was earning a degree in English from Stanford, it appears chess took a back seat for a few years. I understand he has moved back to the area and is teaching chess in Saline.

Nate informs us that his goals for the magazine are to provide interesting and valuable content in a straightforward, consistent format, and to make sure the magazine goes out on time every two months.

Preparing the magazine is a labor of love, an all consuming yet often thankless affair. The MCA Board extends warm appreciation to its most recent editors. Former editior Michael Montalvo recently moved to Pennsylvania, but maintains ties to the area through Brain Games, the sister store to All The Kings Men in Warren. Jennifer Skidmore stepped into the gap to produce the interim "October / November" issue. You can thank Jennifer for her first-rate effort in person at any of the championship scholastic events across the state.

Finally, the Board thanks the membership for its continued support and patience. We believe we are on the way to putting out a quality magazine on a normal schedule. Michigan Chess magazine is published six times per year. Subscription to the magazine is included with your MCA membership.
